3 Alternatives to the Juul
June 19th, 2018

The JUUL has taken the industry by storm and everyone is currently trying to get their hands on one. The simplicity of the device makes it great for anyone starting out and it’s extremely compact, so making it an everyday on-the-go vape is perfect. However, the pods for the JUUL aren’t really what you’d call refillable. Once your JUUL pod is empty, you’d have to throw it out and insert another pod. The devices I’m going to be talking about today all have refillable pods, meaning once your pod is empty, instead of having to throw out the pod, you can just refill it with a bottle of ejuice. This definitely helps keep costs low as a bottle of juice for a pod system can last quite a long time.

First up, we have the Justfog MiniFit Ultra Portable System. This is probably the smallest device I’ve seen to date, but don’t let its size fool you. This little pod system can actually output some decent vapour production! One thing that sets this apart from other pod systems is that there’s no draw activator. Meaning, when you do take a pull, you have to press the button on the front to fire it. I do like this because I find with some draw activating systems, they tend to misfire. With a button, you know for sure that the device is firing. The pods hold 1.5ml of e-liquid and that could last you a whole day if you use it sparingly. The battery comes out to 370 mAh. I found that I’d have to charge this device up near the end of the day. If you’re looking for the most compact device you can get and you aren’t hauling on your vape day in and day out, I’d definitely recommend a Minifit.

Next up, we have the Aspire Breeze 2 Kit All in One. This one is going to be a bit bigger than your regular pod system, but for good reason. The Breeze 2 has a whopping 1000 mAh battery and the pods hold 3ml of e-juice. This is going to be different from other pod systems thanks to its internal coils. Instead of having to throw out the pod when the coil dies on the Breeze 2, you can just replace the coil. This is definitely the cheapest option. A pack of Aspire Breeze / Breeze 2 Coils cost ~$15 for a pack of 5.

Lastly, this is probably one of my favourite pod systems on the market. This would be the Suorin iShare Portable Starter Kit. This is definitely a unique kit because the kit actually comes with 2 different devices that are housed in a 1400 mAh battery bank. The devices themselves are 130 mAh. Paired with the battery bank case, you can easily get through a full day and then some. What’s nice about the kit coming with 2 devices is you can fill up each pod with 2 different flavours, so you can switch it up on the fly! Size-wise, the device is very small, similar to the size of the Juul. With both devices in the battery bank, it’s still very compact.
